THE DOOR IS CLOSING...

...on my writing career.

Yeah, soon to be over. I’m working on an episodic novel, and even with that, I’ve got a bad case of writer’s block. I’ve got a few things pending, ideas, outlines, partially written stories, but I really don’t care. I’m disillusioned with writing and the industry in general.

So, after I finally get around to completing the episodic novel, that’s it. My experiment with writing my own material is over. I suppose this blog will be relegated to films and novels I like.

  1. Now, I don't want to come across as rude or harsh, but why exactly are you quitting? If you have an ideal in your head that all writers crank out dozens of books a year with ease, then yes, that is a bit delusional. It is a lot of hard work. Generally, I don't write everyday simply because I get blocked and walk away from it to let my mind sort it out while I do other things.
Find the reasons why you started writing in the first place and see if they still hold true. In this day and age, with the way the industry runs, it's difficult to decide which route to go. But if you truly have a story you want told, no matter what, there's lots of different routes. We all get fed up with it sometimes, doubt why we're doing this, but we always get drawn back in somehow. If it really isn't for you, then nothing anyone says will matter, I suppose.

  2. Hi Mel, you're not being rude or harsh, and I appreciate your comments. I've been doing this for nearly four decades now, and just need a change of pace. Time to think of other likes and interests I have that I haven't had time for. Perhaps some day I'll come back to writing, but for now, I haven't any plans to.
